Project Volterra is Microsoft’s New Arm Development Kit

Microsoft is developing a new Windows-on-Arm development kit that will integrate with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon computing platform and let Windows programmers create Arm-native applications. The “Project Volterra” development kit will let programmers create apps, particularly those that perform AI processing on the device, using upcoming Arm-native versions of Microsoft dev tools.

They are thrilled to announce the release of Windows Dev Kit 2023, designed to assist developers in quickly and effectively producing Windows apps for Arm. At Build in May 2022, they unveiled this device under the Project Volterra arm. Know all about project Volterra’s price, availability, and all information from our article.

Price

At its Build developer conference earlier this year, it unveiled the Microsoft project Volterra arm-powered ai, a new development platform for building AI applications. It has just been revealed that project Volterra cost $599. Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US all have them available. According to Microsoft, you may watch this week’s Arm Dev Summit for further information on the project Volterra review.

What do We Know So Far About Project Volterra?

Project Volterra Microsoft wasn’t physically displayed during Nadella’s presentation. Still, a video presented with it seemed to indicate that it would be about the size of a normal tiny PC, like the Mac Mini.

Developers can stack numerous Volterra devices on desktops or in server rooms because the device is stackable and has a striking granite-black construction composed of recycled ocean plastic.

In the video, project Volterra specs appeared like the gadget included two USB-C connectors on its side, three USB ports, a DisplayPort port, an Ethernet port, and two more ports for connecting to monitors or other devices. The manufacturer has officially confirmed the handset’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset. Microsoft SQ3 is not being rebranded for the Surface Pro 9 as was done for the Surface Pro 9. It includes a 512GB SSD, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, 32GB PDDR4x RAM, and the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. There is a single SKU.

Microsoft stated that a native Arm64 version of Visual Studio 2022, also being developed, is intended to run with the device. The first time full Visual Studio features are offered on Arm devices. This could give developers more freedom and efficiency when creating cloud-native AI apps.

Even while Project Volterra is still in the early stages, we know it will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with a particular neural processing unit, or NPU. According to Microsoft, the component would provide “best-in-class” AI computing efficiency and capacity.
