Star Wars Tales of the Jedi – Dave Filoni Weaves His Magic Again to Keep Star Wars Fans Engrossed

The first season of Star Wars Tales of the Jedi revolves around Ahsoka Tano and Dooku, focusing on the former, which is clear from the first episode. The short series of six animated shorts created by Dave Filoni capture the details of the pivotal moments experienced by the two characters during their journey. The approach underlines the intention of creating a fan-centric narrative which is what Tales of the Jedi are all about. The intention of wooing fans becomes even more evident from the sequence of the first episode, which shows a one-year-old Ahsoka accompanying her mother on a hunting trip and encountering an unexpected crisis. The sequence underscores the fearlessness that defines Ahsoka while providing insights into the nature-loving and tight-knit community in which Ahsoka was born.

Star Wars Tales of the Jedi – the Structure and Storyline

October 26 was the Tale of the Jedi release date, now streaming on Disney+. Dave Filoni, the creator of the six-part animated series, has a wealth of experience creating many Star Wars things like Cone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian, The Bad Patch, and The Book of Boba Fett – Tales of the Jedi.  With the help of six animated shorts comprising Tales of the Jedi 2022, Filoni sketches out pivotal moments from the lives of the two divergent characters. Three episodes are about Ahsoka at different ages, starting with infancy and extending up to post-order 66 Exile. The other three episodes follow Count Dooku’s transformational journey from an upstanding Jedi Master who turns into an evil Sith Lord.

Building up the Momentum

Expectations have been building among Star Wars about the Tales of the Jedi show since September when Disney+ released the first Tales of the Jedi trailer. Since officially announcing the project in May, Disney+’s trailer launch shed some light on the exciting things the audience should be ready to explore in the series.

The Cast

Ashley Eckstein lends her voice to Ahsoka, and Corey Burton is behind the animated Count Dooku, the protagonist of the Tales of the Jedi animated series. While the path of the central characters crosses many times, they interact with other familiar characters like Anakin Skywalker ( Matt Lanter), Captain Rex (Dee Bradley Baker), Mace Windu (TC Carson), and Qui-Gon-Jinn ( Liam Neeson lends the voice as a middle-aged man and his son Michael Richardson lends his voice to a younger man).

Episode Directors

There are three directors of the six episodes, all written by Dave Filoni. Nathaniel Villanueva is the director of the first episode – Life and Death. Charles Murray is the director of the third episode – Choices, while Saul Ruiz directs the remaining four episodes – Justice (2nd episode), The Sith Lord (4th episode), Practice Makes Perfect (5th episode), and Resolve (6th Episode).

Filoni’s aim while creating the series was to explore two paths and two choices. His intention becomes clear from how he structures the episodes, with Ahsoka being pivotal in the first three episodes of Star Wars Tales of the Jedi while the other three focus on Count Dooku.
