The dysfunctional family of superheroes is back again in the Umbrella Academy season 3 as they face the next big challenge of saving the world as they did before. Adapted from the Dark Horse Comics, the show belongs to the rare category of comic book adoptions like Marvel and DC. Netflix’s hit series has become a great entertainer by presenting apocalypse after apocalypse with excellent skills to make it look highly entertaining. The third outing does not disappoint the fans as the siblings demonstrate their heroics. Although the story does not reach the heights of the earlier season, it retains the elements that make the series a great entertainer. In season 3 of the Umbrella Academy, there’s no shortage of enjoyment for the fans – more character development, a memorable soundtrack, and lovable dynamics.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3
Those who have seen the Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer know that the third season focuses on the real-life transition of Elliot Page through a familiar story but filled with new possibilities. Chaos continues in the third season as the siblings have their task cut out of stopping another apocalypse. Their adversary is a new team of superheroes stuck in a hotel they can never leave. The plot of season 3 of the Umbrella Academy is highly complex, and the sequences are often meandering.
Something’s Gone Wrong.
The third season takes off from where the second season ended. It follows the events after the Commission’s defeat, and superheroes travel through time to return to 2019. The supposedly dead adoptive father of the siblings, Reginald Hargreeves, is alive and has a new family of children known as the Sparrow siblings. The new season is also about the battle between two teams of superheroes – the Sparrow siblings and the Umbrella siblings.
Viewers might feel that there’s something gone wrong because not only do they find Hargreeves alive and bringing up a family, and they find Ben, who had died earlier, making a comeback. Both the dead characters appear to be standing in the flesh, which might intrigue viewers.
A Diluted Version of Family Drama
The show is a departure from the soap opera format of family drama as the plot has ample doses of banter sprinkled with more self-deprecating humor. The show touches upon some serious topics like trans rights, racism, and mental health but without taking recourse to lectures. It also talks about nihilism in a light-hearted manner but with some suitable measures.
A New Phenomenon
In season 3 of the Umbrella Academy, the characters deal not only with one another but also with a Kugleblitz. This phenomenon starts the destruction process of things in the Universe by sucking them into a black hole.
But there’s a serious problem with the Umbrella Academy season 3 that seems to lose out to the earlier seasons in entertainment value. Although the episodes are easy and light on the eyes, the excessive replication of the magical tricks of the superheroes can become boring.
