Poco Watch – A Budget Smartwatch that Offers Features and Functionalities Matching the Price

From smartphones to smartwatches, Poco’s transition to the world of wearables seems logical as the company tries to bolster its position in the larger ecosystem of digital products. The Poco Watch looks more like a smart band than a smartwatch, but the features remove the doubts about its usability as a fitness gadget. Besides the AMOLED display, the compact, lightweight device has the usual dual-band GPS and health tracking features that are standard for smartwatches. The smartwatch would cost $79, but the Poco Price seems quite affordable.

Poco Watch – Design

The first smartwatch from Poco might appear to be a paradox because despite weighing 31 grams and being heavier than Mi Band 5, it does not feel that heavy on wearing the device. Sleek or slim, which would be the proper adjective to describe the watch, might confuse you. The thickness of 10 mm makes the device appear slimmer than most other bands on the market. The all-plastic matte finished casing has the charging port and optical sensor at the back.

The device has an AMOLED touch display measuring 1.6-inch with a resolution of 320×360 pixels and AOD (always on display) functionality. The display appears petite than other smartwatches, and the device is available in black, ivory, and blue colors. The silicone straps measuring 125-205 mm have matching colors. You can wear the smartwatch when swimming because it is water resistant up to 50 meters. The device comes with a two-point magnetic charger suitable for the USB-A port.

Features

The Chinese smartwatch includes several fitness tracking features like heart rate tracking for 24 hours, SpO2 measurement, stress, and sleep tracking. Besides, the device has a built-in breathing training app and a female health tracking option. The device can track more than 100 fitness modes with additional 100 modes and 17 professional modes. The smartwatch has dual-band position tracking with support for GLONASS, GPS, BeiDou, and Galileo satellite positioning. The watch can receive app notifications but does not have the call feature except for allowing you to decline calls. The AMOLED screen has an auto-brightness feature besides the 5 step manual brightness adjustment option.

The watch supports Bluetooth connectivity and operates via the Mi Fitness app. It has 14 customizable options for the watch face, which you can download from the watch face store.

Performance

The Chinese smartwatch uses a proprietary OS that resembles the OS of other smart bands in the category. You have to be happy with the built-in 20 apps without third-party app support. The watch face comes alive when you wake up the watch by double tapping the screen, twisting your wrist, or pressing the button on the right side. Swiping the screen left or right displays 7 widgets at a time. Swiping the watch face from the top shows the notifications, and a reverse swipe displays the battery life indicator and the quick setting toggle.

The 225 mAH battery of the Poco Watch lasts 14 days on a single charge for mixed-used. Heavy usage reduces the battery life to 3-4 days.
