Huawei P50 Pro Review: A Flagship Phone with a Distinctive Design and Versatile Camera

Despite the global pandemic, chipset shortages, and the U.S. imposed restrictions; it was thought that the Huawei p50 series would not be able to see the light of the day.

The device was finally launched in China in August 2021 after a year’s delay, and only now international markets can access the p50 pro.

As a result of the P50 series facing a challenging market, the Huawei p50 pro plus model, which made a mark in the Huawei 2020 lineup is now nowhere to be seen, thus making the Huawei p50 pro the most capable phone the company has to offer now.

Due to restrictions, Huawei has also developed its Android-based platform with several regional apps, such as Snapchat and Tok-Tok, available in place of the missing Google, WhatsApp, and Instagram services.

Huawei P50 ProDesign

The P50 pro highlights its latest thin-sized and light frame, excellent build quality, curved edge panel, and the first time in the Huawei p50 series. The OLED display is accompanied by a 120 Hz refresh rate giving smooth visuals. It also proves a 300 Hz touch response rate for gaming and dimming control to lower brightness and reduce eye strain. The P50 Pro model is not a bulky phone, unlike other top-tier rivals.

Huawei P50 ProPerformance

With no Google services and no 5G, the unique circumstance has restricted Huawei’s product development; the same force is driving the debut of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor.

Camera and Battery

One of the USPs of any Huawei flagship phone is the camera. The Huawei p50 pro Dual Matrix design is an assortment of sensors with a dedicated 40Mp monochrome sensor, a 64 Mp periscopic telephoto, and a 13 Mp ultrawide sensor that completes the lenses in the rear.

Huawei P50 Pro – Battery

The P50 Pro is thinner and lighter than the other models in the series; it has the highest capacity battery with a 4360 mAh cell. The Huawei operating system EMUI is known for its heavy-handed power management, though it does not generally hamper day-to-day use, app launches, or performance. This is one of the likely reasons for the device’s longevity. The battery gives a screen time of 8.75 hours on a single charge. The phone gets 80% charged in 30 minutes with a 66W fast wired charging. Without use, the battery life is 1.5 days.

Huawei P50 Pro Release Date and Price

The Huawei P5o pro was released in August 2021 in native China. It got a release in Asia and the Middle East in January 2022 and will cover the entire Europe by 2026. It is available directly on the Huawei website or from Amazon. In THE U.K., it is priced at £1,099.99
