HP Spectre X360 16 Review: The 2-in-1 Laptop with Excellent Features But an Outdated Processor

The HP Spectre x360 16 is more than a laptop. Its impressive OLED display, 1080p webcam, and connectivity options make it suitable for the right person. There is one drawback, and that is its processor performance. The model is on the wrong side of the trend, especially when processor makers Intel have lined up the 12th gen core processor that powers more than the 11th gen core.

HP Spectre x360 16 Review – Specs and Features

The laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-11390H processor graphics from Nvidia RTX 3050. The HP Spectre x360 2-I device with 16 GB RAM makes this model stand out more for graphics than performance. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. It comes with 2 USB C 4 ports with Display Port and power delivery. There is a 1080p webcam, IR camera, Fingerprint reader, an Active Pen, and an OLED touch screen resolution beyond 4K and optional. With so many features, the HP Spectre x360 16 price of around $2000 is tolerable.

HP Spectre x360 16 Review – Design

HP has a unique design like Dell. It comes in sharp angles, hardlines, and a bronze color that gives it a glamorous look. The build is sturdy with a metal chassis and relatively stable. At 4.45-pound weight, the HP Spectre x360 16 laptop is a heavy and oversized 2-in -1. The keyboard folds back and is used as a stand-in the Tent mode. The large screen and the active pen make it great for drawing or sketching using digital software.

The large layout makes the keyboard less cluttered. The key travel lags though the touchpad is good. It is responsive and large and works well with multi-touch gestures on Windows 11. The HP Spectre x360 16 comes with an active pen.

HP Spectre x360 16 Review – Performance

The HP Spectre x360 16 comes with an LCD IPS touchscreen (3,072 x 1,920) resolution. The performance is great, delivering a high contrast ratio of 29320-1 and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 and sRGB highly accurate colors. This translates to a fantastic viewing experience with a rich, deep display, especially when fed with 4K resolution.

The laptop comes with four speakers with placements that improve audio clarity, though lack of bass can be an issue.

HP Spectre x360 16 Review – Battery Life

HP states that it can offer 17 hours of battery life. However, the real-life experience would be 8-9 hours when using a 4K display and Nvidia discrete graphics.

HP Spectre x360 16 Review – Software

The laptop has a light load of bloatware, including McAfee antivirus; otherwise, most apps are from HP. This includes the HP Command Centre, which can alter the power profiles, and a photo management app, HP Palette. The bundled apps, however, do not obstruct the performance.

Conclusion

The HP Spectre x360 16 release date coincided with the release of Windows 11 in October 2021. The design and display are outstanding for this 2-1, and the battery life and average CPU performance make this device fall behind the competition.
