The story of the Chicken Run movie is about a flock of anthropomorphic chickens that live in fear of extinction on an egg farm run by Mr. and Mrs. Tweedy, who are also the owners. The ruthless nature of the owners is evident in killing any chicken that no longer lays eggs. The chickens live in constant fear and try to escape without any success. As the farm’s profits decline, Mrs. Tweedy decides to convert the farm into a manufacturing unit that produces chicken pies. She plans to install a machine for converting the chickens into chicken pies. Mr. Tweedy was always suspicious that the chickens were plotting, but Mrs. Tweedy thought otherwise and negated the theory.
As the story unfolds, you will learn about the Chicken Run characters.
One day, a chance encounter between Ginger, the leader of the chickens, and Rocky, an American rooster who crash-landed in the farm’s coop, became the turning point of the story. The chickens not only shelter Rocky from the evil eyes of the Tweedy couple but also tends to his damaged wings and makes him fit for flying again. Impressed by Rocky’s flying abilities, Ginger pleads with him to teach all chickens to fly so that they can escape from the farm. Meanwhile, Mr. Tweedy is ready for a trial of the pie machine and puts Ginger in it for the test run. Luckily, Rocky rescues Ginger and accidentally damages the machine, thus giving time to the chickens to recoup and plan an escape.
The next day, the chickens were utterly disappointed to discover that Rocky had gone away, and they were helpless and depressed. The cheering talks of elderly rooster Fowler lifted their spirits as he inspired them to build a plane to flee the farm. The chickens could manage to build the aircraft by overpowering Mr. Tweedy while holding him hostage and taking a flight to escape with help from Ginger, who stayed back on the farm.
In the end, Rocky reappears in the scene to help Ginger escape.
