Razer Blade 15 Review – An Overview

The Razer 15 laptop is familiar. The brand has been improving its features every year with the latest hardware, and after one does razer blade 15 reviews of the 2021 model, one will see that it is no different. Backed by the intel 11, the generation processor, and the Nvidia Ampere, the laptop is more powerful than before and shows that 4K gaming laptops are here to stay.

It is a thin device and one of few powerful gaming laptops that one will feel proud to use in public. With the 4K display and the hardware, which is power-hungry, the battery feels the strain and is one of the drawbacks of this model.  The laptop is at a point where you need to carry a charger all the time and charge it with a standard USB- C charger.

Price and availability

The Razer Blade comes at a starting price tag of $1,799. The configuration of the 2021 model consists of Intel Core i7-11800H, a 512GB SSSD, 16GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, and a 1080p 144 Hz display.

The price can go up to $3,399 for 32 GB RAM and a Core i9 processor, which will appeal to creative professionals.  One is paying for luxury computing for this price rather than playing games. One can get another razor gaming laptop with the exact specifications at a lower price without losing portability. This time the Razor Blade 14 gives a direct challenge to the Razor Blade 15 in performance and same price tags with better portability. However, the 15-inch  Razer blade has an advantage over Razor 14 with its 4K screen.

Performance

The razer blade 15, with its   11th-generation Core i7 processor and an RTX 3080, can handle any game that one throws at it, but the best part is its ability to control the games at 4K screens. The desktop version of RTX 30380 is more potent than the mobile variant and struggles at 4K   for features like ray tracing.  Some games like Final Fantasy XIV and Shadow of War require maximum graphic settings and obtain a framerate of 60 fps.

Battery life

Current Gaming laptops have decent battery life, with some going up to 8 hours of battery life. The Razer Blade 15 shows a battery life of six hours 16 minutes in the PCMark 10 battery life test and around 5 hours in the video playback test. This is a drawback because otherwise, this laptop has an excellent feature to go around with.

Camera and microphone

The lockdown exposed the poor cameras of many laptops. But the Razer Blade 15 has an incredible webcam. One can get a 1080p webcam, and it looks excellent during video calls Abd better than most laptops out there.  The microphone is also good without much background distraction and picks up the voice well.

Software

The Razer Blade 15 comes with a pre-installed software Razer Synapse. It also has an IR sensor that supports Windows Hello. It has fast unlocked facial features but does not have a fingerprint sensor.

Design

The razer blade 15 design has not changed in recent years, and one is not complaining. It has an all-black aluminum chassis and an illuminated Razer logo on top of the laptop. It has a large trackpad and is one of the best gaming speakers, and the keyboard is simply outstanding.

A laptop with powerful hardware is surprisingly thin and light, weighs just 4.4 lb, and has a thickness measuring 0.67 inches. This feature makes the razer laptop one of the best portable laptops in its category.

The only bulky thing is the large charger which adds to the bulk when traveling. The charger is essential as this laptop cannot carry the charge for the whole day.

The 4K touch OLED display is excellent and has brightness which though not the brightest, is beautiful to look at when gaming or binging on Netflix.

The media appeal goes beyond the display, with speakers simply incredible. It has a thick base that is loud enough to fill a room.

It has one of the best trackpads with its smooth, accurate, and large enough box for easy gestures. The keyboard is also good with plenty of travel and RGB lighting.

The ports are a lot, considering the thin shape of the laptop.  You have three USB-A, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, Kensington lock, and a combo audio jack of 3.5 mm on both sides of the razor laptops.

Final Takeaway

The razer blade 15 advanced model has excellent performance and luxurious design. However, relatively short battery life and a high price tag may hold it back.
